Press Release-Donation Opportunity: Gift Card Donation Drive for Fire Victims

Petaluma Mothers’ Club is collecting gift cards to disperse daily to Petaluma evacuation shelters housing those displaced by the North Bay Fires.

Petaluma, CA, October 16, 2017– As of October 16, 2017, victims of the North Bay fires have begun receiving gift cards via local organization, the Petaluma Mothers’ Club (PMC). The group is running a gift card drive to provide some immediate assistance to those in need, with distribution running through Petaluma People Services Center.

“The events of the last few days have hit our community with great shock and sadness. Petaluma has quickly become the central evacuation point for the many victims of the fires surrounding us. Currently, the shelters are stocked with supplies. Our local restaurants are feeding victims and everyone is volunteering in one way or another.” Megan Cusimano, PMC President.

The Petaluma Mothers’ Club is collecting gift cards in increments of $25 for evacuees – although any amount will be accepted. It is suggested to purchase cards from stores available locally and from afar such as Target, Kohls and Safeway. 100% of all cards and donations will be distributed to evacuees daily through the month of October. Over six parent’s organizations and businesses from surrounding areas have submitted donations so far, and the PMC has donated $3000 in gift cards to jumpstart the program.

Cards may be submitted electronically to: or may be mailed to: Petaluma Mothers’ Club, PO Box 521, Petaluma, CA 94953. Cards will be collected until October 31st.

“Petaluma is a strong community and we are here to help! We hope that while claims are filed, insurance companies contacted, etc, that these gift cards will provide some immediate assistance. Our hearts go out to all of our North Bay communities.” Megan Cusimano, PMC President.

Founded in 1992, the Petaluma Mothers’ Club supports families in the community with children ages zero to five years old. Our motto of “Connect. Share. Play!” encompasses what the Mothers’ Club has to offer for its members. Boasting over 400 members, we have a variety of ways for families to meet and support each other in these early years of having children.
