Our 1-2.5 year old session was so popular we’ve added a second class for this age group!

Soccer Stars Parent & Me (Ages 1-2.5 years old)

Time: 10:00-10:20am

With parents & caregivers, our coaches & puppet friends Mimi and Pepe take toddlers through a world of exciting physical activity. Play-based activities & engaging original music is used to develop pre-soccer skills in a fun & nurturing environment. We use the soccer ball as a vehicle to develop skills, teach teamwork & build confidence.

Instructor Intro

Nickie Rolle-Chu, owner of Soccer Stars North Bay, is a lifelong soccer player, a local Marin County resident and a mom to her own ball-toting 3.5 year old. After spending 20 years in the corporate world, Nickie decided to leave her job, invest in herself and pursue an opportunity that would allow her to prioritize her family and provide personal fulfillment. Backed by more than 20 years of experience, Soccer Stars offers a unique, age-specific curriculum for kids ages 1 & up. While the program has been successfully running nationwide for 2 decades, it is new to the majority of the North Bay, and we are so excited to bring it to the Petaluma community.

*Community Event* An imaginary world of hybrid animals (04/10/2026)

For more information: An imaginary world of hybrid animals

Inspired by the Zapotec calendar,
eight monumental sculptures fill the Garden with color and wonder this spring and summer

April 10 – September 7, 2026

Sonoma Botanical Garden (SBG) continues its now annual tradition of presenting monumental works of art within its forests and fields with Spirit Guides: Fantastical Creatures from the Workshop of Jacobo and María Ángeles, on view April 10 through September 7, 2026. Created by the workshop of Mexican artists Jacobo and María Ángeles, brightly colored and richly patterned sculptures depict imaginary hybrid animals that act as both spirit guides and astrological embodiments of human character. Inspired by the Zapotec calendar, the exhibition features eight large sculptures organized by Denver Botanic Gardens. Its presentation at SBG is made possible through the generosity and vision of the KHR McNeely Family Foundation.

The Oaxaca-based duo was inspired by an ancient Zapotec stone calendar on view in the Museum of Cultures of Oaxaca. Indigenous to southern Mexico, Zapotec culture is deeply connected to plants, seasons, and animals. The artists explain: “A Zapotec legend tells that on the day you were born, a little animal came running or flying—your protector in this world. This animal is your tona, a creature with whom you share your destiny and soul. In addition to your tona, you have a nahual determined by your birth year—this creature is a spirit animal with personality traits similar to yours.”

The Ángeles team used this as an imaginative jumping-off point for their own interpretations of the calendar and zodiac, filling in the blanks with their own mythical creations. For example, cranes and camels are included in the exhibition but are not featured in Zapotec cosmology—instead, the artists chose to depict them for their dynamic shape and form.

The fiberglass sculptures included in the exhibit are monumental, at nearly eight feet tall and up to nine feet wide and four feet deep. They were created through a multistep process that includes conceptual sketches, renderings of small wooden sculptures and fiberglass casting. Artisans at the workshop then paint the sculptures with colorful, intricate geometric patterns inspired by Zapotec and other Indigenous designs, each with their own unique meaning.

Integrated throughout the exhibition, QR codes connect visitors directly to the Bloomberg Connects app, offering free, expert-curated content that provides deeper insight into the artworks, plants, and cultural context. Bilingual interpretive signage highlights the rich plant diversity of southern Mexico and its deep relationship with Indigenous peoples spanning thousands of years.

Complementary summer programs—including Acoustic Sunsets, Sunday Funday, and Noche Latina—extend the experience beyond the landscape, bringing music, culture, and community together in the Garden.

“Spirit Guides reminds us that gardens hold memory, spirit, and wisdom,” says Jeannie Perales, Executive Director, SBG. “This dynamic exhibition invites us to experience the Garden not simply as a landscape, but as a living place of connection—one that reflects and welcomes the rich cultural diversity of Sonoma County and beyond.”

2026 Theme: "America's Birthday - Petaluma Style"

Celebrating 250 years of independence, ingenuity, and small-town pride.

“Americas’ Birthday – Petaluma Style” celebrates the nation’s 250th Birthday by honoring Petaluma’s deep agricultural roots and hometown spirit. This year’s Butter & Egg Days Parade recognizes the farmers, families, immigrants, makers, entrepreneurs, and creatives whose hard work, imagination, and ingenuity reflect the enduring American Dream. This celebration also pays respect to the Indigenous peoples who first stewarded this land, the courage of our founders, and the dedication of the dairy and egg farming community that shaped our town. Rooted in community, innovation, and independence, the parade celebrates the small-town spirit that continues to make Petaluma a vibrant place to call home. Head to Downtown Petaluma and celebrate with our community on this day of fun, history, and local pride!

Parade participants incorporate the theme “America's Birthday - Petaluma Style” into their entry design. The theme gives nonprofits, businesses, organizations, and individuals lots of options for showing off their creativity in their designs. All parade entries will be judged on how well their entry portrays this year's theme - winners announced on the website! Check back later to see which entries take home the prizes and earn bragging rights.

The Butter & Egg Days festivities kick off on Saturday, April 11 with the Opening Ceremonies at the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum (20 Fourth St), from Noon to 1pm. Mayor Kevin McDonnell will read a proclamation honoring the Grand Marshal and Good Egg. Come enjoy this display that shows the heart of our community.

One week later on Saturday, April 18, the Butter & Egg Days Parade steps off at noon and marches through the historic downtown. The parade showcases over 100 units with approximately 3,000 participants and 200 volunteers. Clover Sonoma returns to lead the Clover Kids’ Parade, which precedes the main parade at 11:30am with a procession of preschoolers and primary grade youngsters and their families.

The parade is surrounded by a Festival that spreads over four city blocks from 10am-5pm offering a wide variety of food, crafts, beverage gardens, two large kid areas, live music, and more! New this year, the Festival will feature the Healthy Petaluma Community Relaxation Lounge, located at Blue Zones, 8 4th Street. This annual event aims to bring together the community for a day of fun and entertainment.

The following weekend, Downtown Petaluma continues the celebration with the Annual Spring Antique Faire, on Sunday, April 26.

Happy Butter & Egg Days!!!

Spring Tea (06/14/2026)

Join us for the Petaluma Mothers Club’s Spring Tea 2026, a festive afternoon with a playful golf-inspired twist! This year’s “Spring Tee” theme brings together country-club charm and garden-party elegance for a relaxed and social fundraiser benefiting our community.

Sip and mingle at the beautiful Flying Cloud Farm while enjoying light bites, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and the chance to browse a curated silent auction and raffle featuring incredible local offerings. Proceeds from the event directly support PMC programs and initiatives that serve families throughout our community.

Whether you’re coming with friends or meeting new ones, this is an afternoon to dress up, unwind, and give back.
